Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, and the party's acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, have inquired about the health of Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, who suddenly fell ill while addressing a national rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman himself shared this information in a Facebook post on Saturday (July 19) at 11:00 PM.
It is understood that Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has returned home from the hospital after receiving treatment. Upon returning home, he provided an update on his current physical condition.
In his post, he wrote, "Alhamdulillah. I am much better now. After necessary examinations at the hospital, I have returned home for rest. I sincerely apologize for the disruption caused to today's rally due to my temporary illness. This was not intentional on my part. Almighty Allah surely has some good in this. After I fell ill, many people from home and abroad, including BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, inquired about me and prayed for me."
He further added, "During my short stay at the hospital, a team of leaders including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, and Islami Andolan Secretary General Maulana Yunus Ahmed, along with Khilafat Majlis Amir Hazrat Maulana Abdul Basit Azad, Secretary General Professor Dr. Ahmad Abdul Kader, and one of Khilafat Majlis's senior leaders Ahmad Ali Qasemi, leaders from Khilafat Andolan, NCP, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam also directly inquired about my health."
He also wrote, "Countless colleagues, well-wishers, social and political figures from home and abroad, and even many non-Bangladeshis have inquired about me. Many government advisors and others also inquired. I am sincerely grateful to all of them. I am indebted for their prayers. May Allah Rabbul Alamin grant everyone the reward for their love and sincerity. May Allah Rabbul Alamin grant this servant the ability to work for humanity as He wishes for the rest of his life."
