The National Citizen Party (NCP) has called for a protest rally today, Friday, July 18, with three demands, condemning the attack on its central leaders during a July march in Gopalganj.
The program was announced at a press conference held on Thursday, July 17, at the party's central office in Bangla Motor, Dhaka. The press conference was organized by the NCP's Dhaka Metropolitan North and South branches.
It was stated at the press conference that the NCP's Dhaka Metropolitan North and South branches will hold the rally at 4:00 PM today at the National Press Club premises.
Their demands include: departmental action against the intelligence agency members on duty in Gopalganj; identifying and prosecuting those involved based on video footage; and strengthening security for NCP marches in other districts. Nizam Uddin, Chief Coordinator of NCP Dhaka Metropolitan South, read out a written statement at the press conference. Also present were Mostak Ahmed Shishir, Joint Coordinator of Dhaka Metropolitan North; S.M. Shahriar, Joint Coordinator of Dhaka Metropolitan South; and M.M. Shoaib, Office Coordinator of Dhaka Metropolitan North.
