In an effort to maintain public order and ensure the free movement of citizens, the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) has imposed a ban on rallies and gatherings in several additional areas of Dhaka, effective from Sunday, May 18.
According to a press release issued on Saturday (May 17), all forms of public assembly—including meetings, rallies, processions, and demonstrations—will be prohibited until further notice in the following areas: Kachukhet Road; the stretch from Bijoy Sarani to the Prime Minister's Office via Birshreshtha Shaheed Jahangir Gate; the vicinity from BAF Shaheen College to the Mohakhali Flyover; Sainik Club intersection; Bhashantek; Matikata; ECB Square; and surrounding areas.
Earlier on Thursday (May 15), the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) had already restricted similar activities in several key locations, including: the official residence of the Chief Justice, judges' residences, Judges Complex, main gate of the Supreme Court, Mazar Gate, Jame Mosque Gate, entry points of International Crimes Tribunal 1 and 2, and the Judicial Administration Training Institute. The DMP ban also covers all forms of public gatherings and demonstrations in these zones.
