BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed the party's hope that an interim government would organize elections in February, stating that "elections will lead the country on the right path."
He made these remarks to journalists on Monday, July 7, after visiting the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (R.) in Sylhet.
The BNP Secretary General is also scheduled to attend a prayer session organized by the UK BNP President and BNP Chairperson's Advisor M.A. Malek, seeking the recovery of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and the good health of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Additionally, in the afternoon, he will participate in an event hosted by the Sylhet District BNP to honor the families of all martyrs from Sylhet district who were victims of what the party describes as "fascist Awami League's heinous killings" during the July-August mass uprising.
Fakhrul is the chief guest at these programs, with central BNP leaders attending as special guests.
Earlier on Monday, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir arrived in Sylhet on a 9:25 AM flight. Upon leaving the airport, he proceeded directly to visit the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (R.) and later Hazrat Shah Paran (R.).
