U.S. President Donald Trump has announced an expansion of the ‘Gold Card’ program, aiming to provide job opportunities in America for talented Indian students. He emphasized that due to illegal immigration, genuine talent is not being valued in the U.S., forcing highly skilled graduates to return to their home countries even after studying in America. The ‘Gold Card’ program is designed to benefit these talented individuals.
Under this initiative, American companies will be able to hire skilled Indian students without concerns about their visa status. The program ensures that these students will no longer face difficulties staying and working in the U.S. Trump mentioned that students from not only India but also Japan, China, and other countries will be eligible for these benefits under the ‘Gold Card’ scheme.
Addressing Immigration Barriers
Speaking at an event, Trump criticized existing immigration policies, stating that they prevent deserving candidates from staying in the U.S. despite receiving education from top institutions like Harvard and other prestigious universities. He pointed out that many international students receive job offers from American companies, but these offers often get canceled because employers are uncertain about their visa status.
Trump acknowledged that the current immigration policies are causing America to lose valuable talent. Many of these skilled individuals are returning to their home countries and establishing successful businesses, creating jobs for thousands. He argued that by failing to retain this talent, the U.S. is missing out on economic growth. The ‘Gold Card’ program aims to solve this issue by allowing skilled professionals to live and work in America.
A Premium Path to U.S. Citizenship
Trump also introduced a new pathway to U.S. citizenship under the ‘Gold Card’ program. Unlike the traditional ‘Green Card’ system, this new initiative allows wealthy individuals to purchase American citizenship for $5 million. The ‘Gold Card’ is being referred to as a “premium version” of the Green Card, offering additional privileges to those who qualify.
With this program, Trump hopes to attract both top global talent and high-net-worth individuals, strengthening America's workforce and economy.
