Bangladesh Urges Urgent Action on Two-State Solution for Palestine at UN Conf

Foreign Adviser of Bangladesh, Md. Touhid Hossain addressed the 'High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution' at the UN Headquarters.

He emphasized Bangladesh's unwavering commitment to the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and called for immediate, concrete action to establish an independent State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Hossain highlighted two critical challenges: illegal Israeli settlements disrupting a contiguous Palestinian territory and the "unprecedented" violations of international humanitarian law in Gaza since October 2023, labeling the situation as "one of the gravest genocides of our time." He condemned the killings and the use of starvation as a weapon, demanding accountability for perpetrators.

Bangladesh urged an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, ensuring unhindered delivery of aid and strengthening UNRWA.

Hossain also called for the mobilization of resources for humanitarian aid and reconstruction, expressing Bangladesh's readiness to join UN-led efforts.

He reiterated Bangladesh's call for the full recognition and membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations, stressing the urgency of implementing the two-state solution to uphold international law and the UN Charter.
