Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser, will announce the date for the national election within the next four to five days, according to Mostofa Jamal Haider, Chairman of Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar).
On Saturday afternoon (July 26), representatives from 14 political parties met with the Chief Adviser at the state guest house Jamuna. The meeting focused on resolving the current law and order situation, the upcoming election, and various other contemporary issues.
After the meeting, political leaders emerged one by one. Several leaders stated that the Chief Adviser would announce the election date along with the declaration of the 'July Charter'.
The political leaders also emphasized the need to remove "fascist elements" from government institutions, warning that their presence could hinder a fair election. Several political parties also expressed objections to the establishment of a United Nations Human Rights Commission office in Bangladesh.
The Chairman of Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar) said, "Elections will resolve the anarchy. Many problems will be solved through elections. The Chief Adviser stated that he will announce the election date within the next four to five days. There can be no happier news than this."
Bobby Hajjaj, Chairman of Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM), stated that NDM had submitted eight recommendations. He added that the Chief Adviser attributed the ongoing instability in the country to "accomplices of the previous government." Hajjaj confirmed that the Chief Adviser assured that details regarding the election date process would be announced very soon, alongside the July Charter.
Hajjaj further mentioned that all political parties would work together to tackle the country's instability. He also reported that the Chief Adviser indicated a deficiency in the intelligence report regarding the attack on the Secretariat.
