Professor Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the interim government, is unwilling to accept the title of 'National Reformer,' and the government has no plans to confer such a title upon him.
This was announced by the Chief Adviser's Press Wing on Tuesday (July 15) in response to a rule issued by a High Court bench.
Yesterday, on Monday, a High Court bench issued a rule asking why an order should not be given to declare Dr. Muhammad Yunus a 'National Reformer.'
Regarding that rule, the government stated in a press release on Tuesday that Professor Yunus himself is unwilling to be so declared, and the government has no plans to confer such a title upon him.
The statement from the Chief Adviser's Press Wing said that the government has taken note of the High Court rule asking why an order should not be given to declare Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus a 'National Reformer,' and the government will respond to this rule in due course after receiving a copy of the order.
The statement further added that it appears the applicant filed this writ on their own initiative, and the basis for seeking this directive is unclear. The Attorney General's office will take action on this matter.
