The newly appointed Ambassador of Bhutan to Bangladesh, HE Ms Dasho Karma Hamu Dorjee, paid a courtesy call on the Hon'ble Adviser for Foreign Affairs, HE Mr Md Touhid Hossain, this morning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Hon'ble Adviser for Foreign Affairs welcomed the Ambassador to Bangladesh and congratulated on her appointment.
The Hon'ble Adviser for Foreign Affairs highlighted the excellent, friendly relations that exist between Bangladesh and Bhutan. The Hon'ble Adviser for Foreign Affairs emphasised that while cooperation has expanded across various sectors over the years, there remains significant potential for further collaboration, especially in hydropower trade, on which both countries can work together for mutual benefit. Various trade-related issues were also discussed, and the importance of convening the next round of Commerce Secretary Level Meeting was emphasised.
Reaffirming the strong bilateral ties between the two countries, Ambassador Ms Dorjee conveyed appreciation for the continued cooperation extended by the Government of Bangladesh to Bhutan. Ambassador Ms Dorjee briefed the Hon'ble Adviser for Foreign Affairs about the 'Gelephu Mindfulness City' project of Bhutan.
Hon’ble Adviser for Foreign Affairs assured the Ambassador of all possible cooperation during her tenure in Bangladesh.
