In the year 2018 total 5 thousand 514 road accidents took place. In these accidents 7 thousand 221 people were killed and 15 thousand 466 were injured. Besides, in the road, rail, waterways and airways total 6 thousand 48 accidents took place where 7 thousand 796 people were killed. Moreover, 15 thousand 980 people were injured. The information came through a report of Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity.
The organization upheld the information in a report titled ‘Annual road accident report-2018’ at the VIP lounge of National Press Club on Friday. Secretary General of Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity Md. Mozammel Haque Chowdhury delivered speech at that time.
The report said, 370 accidents took place in rail route in the last year. 394 people were killed and 248 people were injured in these accidents.
In the waterways 126 people were killed and 234 were injured in 159 accidents. 387 people were missing in these accidents. 5 accidents took place in airways in the year 2018. In these accidents 55 people were killed and 32 were injured.
Percentage of accident hit vehicles: Bus 18.92 percent, truck and covered van 28.68 percent, car-microbus-four wheeler-jeep 7.93 percent, auto rickshaw 9.61 percent, motorcycle 25.30 percent, battery run easy bike 3.72 percent, nasimon-karimon-human haller 5.80 percent.
