The protest erupted after Minara Akter, a garment worker, was fatally hit by a vehicle in Banani’s Chairman Bari area on Monday (March 10) morning. Another worker, Sumaiya Akter, was injured and has been admitted to Kurmitola General Hospital.

Following the accident, workers from two garment factories took to the streets, blocking the road and causing severe traffic congestion in Banani, Mohakhali, and Gulshan. The demonstration also brought the Elevated Expressway to a standstill.
