Reports indicate a significant exchange of gunfire between the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) and the Jana Samhati Samiti (JSS) in Panchhari, Khagrachari. However, there are no immediate reports of casualties in this latest incident.
This new development follows a deadly clash last Friday night, around 8:30 PM, where four individuals were killed during an exchange of fire between members of the UPDF (Proshit faction) and the Parbatya Chattogram Jana Samhati Samiti (JSS-Santu faction).
On that day, Md. Zakaria, Officer-in-Charge of Dighinala Police Station, stated that the conflict erupted over territorial dominance in the Sindhu Karbaripara area. A group of 40-45 individuals led by UPDF military commander Biplob Chakma reportedly confronted another group of 35-40 led by JSS military commander Joydeb Chakma.
During the extensive gunfight, initial reports suggested that four members of the "Gono Mukti Fouj" or "People's Liberation Army," the military wing of UPDF (Proshit), were killed, and many others were injured. Police, however, were unable to provide the names and addresses of the deceased at that time.
