The Election Commission (EC) has announced that applications for new party registration will be cancelled after 15 days if the conditions are not met.
EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed provided this information on Tuesday, July 22.
"Since no party passed the initial screening, we have given them 15 days to fulfill the conditions," he stated. "There is no provision for further extension after this.
If any party fails to meet the requirements within this period, the Commission will take appropriate action."
Previously, no new political party was successful in passing the initial scrutiny of registration applications. Consequently, the EC granted these parties a 15-day grace period.
The EC initially issued a notice inviting applications for party registration until April 20. However, after parties requested more time, the deadline was extended to June 22.
During this period, 144 parties submitted 147 applications. All parties, including the Jatiyo Nagorik Party, failed to meet the conditions. Recently, all parties were given an additional 15 days.
