Chief Advisor Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus has emphasized the need to change the societal mindset that undermines women. He stated that without this shift, the nation cannot move forward.

Speaking as the chief guest at an event held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on the occasion of International Women's Day, Dr Yunus highlighted the discrimination women continue to face.

"There are still many in our society who look down on oppressed women instead of standing by them. Yet, if we are to eliminate violence and inequality, and build a just and prosperous Bangladesh, we must support and empower women," he said.

Expressing concern over recent incidents of violence against women, Dr Yunus remarked that such acts go against the vision of the new Bangladesh that the nation aspires to build. "We are committed to ensuring equal rights for men and women in this country."

He further stated that anti-women forces attempting to rise must be confronted with national unity.

The Chief Advisor also warned that remnants of the fallen dictatorship are investing heavily to create unrest in the country. He urged citizens to remain as vigilant as they would during wartime, emphasizing the need for collective action to protect women and children and to stand against oppression.

Calling for public support in building a peaceful and progressive society, Dr Yunus recalled conversations with women who played a key role in the July mass uprising. He stressed that the dream of a new Bangladesh cannot be realized without ensuring women's participation and rights.
