US Ambassador Visits Parbatipur and Saidpur Railway Workshops

US Ambassador Brent T. Christensen recently inspected Bangladesh Railway’s Central Locomotive Workshop located in Parbatipur to observe firsthand the maintenance operations of American-built locomotives that facilitate nationwide passenger and cargo transit.
During his itinerary, Ambassador Christensen toured the facility, inspected an engine constructed by the US firm Progress Rail, and interacted with local railway engineers responsible for servicing the fleet.
Following the workshop visit, he boarded a train to Saidpur, engaged in conversations with fellow passengers, and explored the historic Saidpur Railway Workshop alongside its museum.
The procurement of 40 Progress Rail locomotives by Bangladesh Railway underscores how American manufacturing and technology contribute to the nation's infrastructural advancement and growth goals.
The official visit served to emphasize the tangible and long-lasting benefits stemming from deepened commercial ties and bilateral trade collaboration between the United States and Bangladesh.
